It is not possible to predict in advance the exact date of some festivals. Many religious festivals relate to a lunar calendar: lunar days do not match perfectly with solar days and different temples and places of worship use different systems to calculate the timing of festivals. Some secular festival dates are not decided until much nearer the time. Dates shown are therefore tabular and could be out by a day or so. It is common practice within many of the communities to celebrate festivals on the nearest weekend rather than the day itself but there is no standardised approach to this. Any known corrections are posted on this page as soon as they become available. Date crucial events should be checked locally. |
